anyway...ive just been searching around youtube.com , its full of videos , from music vids, holiday vids, amiga demo scene videos, everything.....its well worth looking through.

anyway...one of my last posts was about goin to the uk breakdancing thing at brixton, and i found this on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/?v=p2qumKw8Aao

if you thought breakdancing was still spinning on your back/head and windmill, try the video out, its all moved on quite a lot "since my day" (i'm felling old now..)

i'll try and post again soon...im working, eating, sleeping and watching films...so its not much to blog about..

i'm hopefully moving into my flat soon, woo hooo..

WOW, my last blog was in august....and now its almost november.

erm....hi again..

the main reason i thought of blogging today was to comment on the work i did today.I've been doing game graphics since i was about 15 or 16, doing spaceships and aliens , animals, drawing phoneboxes or cars , wrestlers, but today was a first....

I had to draw someone wetting themselves....the character stands there, and a puddle develops around their feet..At one point i drew the character looking down, shrugging his/her shoulders, and even had the clothing getting a little darker around the feet (but i thought this was a little too much)..

ive also recently drawn a character sitting on the toilet (with a pixelated block covering the character)..it looked a little dodgy for a while, but it got sorted in the end.

its quite good to do something new, many games are just rehashes of old ideas with shiny new textures or more polygons...another warehouse, road, car, plane, gun or something, ...I think this set of animation has been the highlight of this current project (the rest of it has been fairly straight forward).

apart from that, recently ive been to the uk breakdancing chapionships thingy in brixton, which was really good, some amazing acrobatics that is far beyond anything like windmill and back spin..i didnt take part, im a bit old for all that ....

and...ive been working lots...hopefully its nearly done and things will settle down again....i hope to get to visit tokyo this year, and maybe hong kong...or even somewhere new!!.

well, time to go (i'm still at work, its 21:20 ) , i need to sort out the films to see at the london film festival (i went to raindance film festival a few weeks ago and saw "the gingerbread man" and a film "escavating taylor mead" which was really good...unlikely to hit a cinema "near you" which is a shame.

i'll try and blog a bit more too.

hi again,

just a quick blog today..

i was talking to a friend on my phone in nottinghill, and a bunch of rude italian tourists told me "photo" and stood around me, while their friends took a picture (not sure why...maybe the tshirt i had on ;) ) ...the japanese are so much more friendly and polite when they ask for a photo..

i went to see a film "you,me and everyone i know" ,or something like that...its a small indie film from usa, ...anyway i was really impressed by it, probably one of the best films ive seen in a while..a strange story of chat rooms, art, shoe shops, setting your hand onfire and divorce..lots of odd things happen from people you dont expect (especially the chat room stuff)..its gotta be better than fantastic four.

a friend lent me the mighty boosh cd's too , the tv show is great (quirky, bizzare comedy thing) and the cd is better..though bollo doesnt speak as much on the cd, whereas on the tv show he dj's at fabric .

and,.well its august and i havent travelled anywhere this year...i think i will after the current project, though itll probably be just a holiday..i should try and visit friends i havent seen for a while (glasgow, new zealand, kidderminster, hongkong, tokyo) ..some are cheap, some not..im also wondering if, as i approach 35 , i should get a house and all that stuff...in theory its the best thing to do instead of paying landlord, but i dont think i earn enough to get something remotely worth buying..

ive lso started using skype, a "free phonecall" internet thing, ...it seems pretty good too, msn wouldnt work but skype seemed easy and worked first time...so if any of my friends are reading this and have skype (or a pc/mac with broadband,a mike and speaker) get intouch and we can chat for free, instead of paying...

im still deciding if i should start a japanese course too, i think i need to learn it properly instead of random phrases out of books and stuff i picked up in jp, ...i think i need to enrol quite soon, so maybe next week i'll sort it out..i;d like to learn loads of languages and travel around, but it takes years n years.....but i do need to start somewhere , though chinese is quite hard id quite like to give that a go..but the thought of doing a course that could take years is a bit daunting..i'd like to think i'll be somewhere else in years to come...not still living in england going to work on the tube, working all day, going home..(repeat 5 times a week)..but it pays the bills and funds the years off now and again..

o yeh, and thers singapore id like to visit, and maybe kuala lumpar , some of europe, maybe fuji rock festival, sonar , thailand ..i'd like to play glastonbury in a few years time (i just need to write some more music, play it live, get a following, tour europe, get a few hits , get invited to play a dance tent or something?..not much)

hey..

not sure if i mentioned this , but the last game i worked on has been reviewed on a few sites..

try gamespot.com , in the mobile section theres a review for need to speed underground (its for mobile phone..)..

a friend has just come back from japan , i think he had a good time, he;s got pictures and movies of his karaoke night on there too

link from
www.medullacorp.com and click on blog...

still no idea when i'll be going back to tokyo, i think hongkong will be next, i have lots of stuff in storage i need to pick up.

back to work tomorow...i didnt see any movies this weekend!! , maybe next weekend...

ooo...i did do one thing i hadnt done for ages...

played a game !!!!..

i just had a quick go on "god of war" for ps2, its very polished and similar in many ways to devil may cry...theyve even got a push block puzzle in the first half hour play!! (we always used to do push block puzzles at argonaut as they make the game last longer, are easy to do and require little brain power to make and play)...the quality so far is good though, i hadnt looked at much on consoles for ages, i dont think i'll return to it (i got to the bit where theres 3 big snake heads to hit)..but half an hour on a game is a record for this year i think..,,last year i played half life for a few hours, though i think most of that was installing it and getting it to work...the only other games ive played are the ones i work on, though i should play the current game more, as ive only played on it for about 10 minutes..(its more of a technical art thing for me, the actual game isnt what i'd normally play , even if its for 10 minutes)..

it should be huge though...

till the next, engrossing blog ...

Wow, its been a month since the last time..

in that time a few bombs went off in london (i was in euston when we got evacuated, walked down to oxford street and jumped on a bus...it was quite surreal seeing so many people walking, so many sirens and police cars around)...i dont think anyone in the office did much work that day....and we all worked from home on friday.....its pretty much back to normal now though.

The last game i worked on is getting high reviews on the game sites....I did a few levels , retexturing and stuff... have a look on gamespot.com or ign.com in the mobile section....the game is called "need for speed underground" on mobile phones..the current title should be even bigger, but i cant really say what it is..

i'm still watching tonnes of films at weekends, escaping chav central (watford) , theres nothing here for me except the house i live in, some food stores and the train station where i can escape ....i'm sure watford is the same as many u.k towns (same shops).....

the nextdoor neighbours are still "neighbours from hell" , playing the most tedious reggae music they can find....if you can think of the most popular, cheesy pop music, get someone to sing it with a reggae beat...and thats what they like....it wouldnt suprise me to hear the birdy song coming through the walls....the same as their constant arguing which sometimes starts at 8.30 am and carries on all day untill 2 to 3 am, when she kicks him out (again)...and they scream at each other in the streets...its sometimes broken up by karaoke , sung by drunk people screaming as loudy as possible, to horrible tunes like pirate songs !!!...ye olde sea shanty songs from years ago...its quite odd...maybe i should record some and post it..

my toy store is slowly expanding, my room quickly filling up with toys and i dont seem to be able to move around it very easily any more, i have lots of new and rare stuff coming, and luckily i found some storage space so things should get a little better...A friend at work has just done my first advert that is due to be in the next issue of a toy magazine...and i'll have my first competition soon too..i could get a lot more stuff in too, but i only tend to get things i like, or are ussually hard to find, ....thers lots of nice things coming out (as shown at the recent huge toy fair in usa)...but theres also a lot of crap , jumping into the "urban vinyl" market to make a quick profit......its all becoming mainstream, which means larger market, and more people trying to do their figures.....a lot of small independant designers are doing their own thing, when i get time i'll put links to people who should get support..(like tesselate whos doing his hearthead shapes)...and many designers like Tado, superdeux, mimic, rolito,Mist,Mad*l,joe ledbetter, and i'll post more name and links when i do another update to my site (www.ploom2.com)

till then, its deadline time in gameland, so lots of hours, tedious meetings , getting home late and eating takeaway when i'm too lazy to cook.

and good luck to M.I.A in the mercury music award...she deserves to win, her album is much better than all the guitar soundalike drivel around at the moment (everytime a festival lineup was announced in the uk, it was kasabian, coldplay, kaiser cheifs, killers, white stripes, blah blah all sound the same drivel....i thnk whenever a band came on the tv we all assumed it was razorlight, as their name was also splattered around the posters....and the bands all sounded the same anyway)

did u guess i'm not keen on keane ? a bit chilly on coldplay, and a bit "incredibly bored" by guitar pop..

:)

well,

my pc died again, and i decided to buy a new laptop..i bought another fujitsu, thinking it would be fine, as a few friends at work have them, and they seemed to be fine.,

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FUJITSU ITEM EVER AGAIN

after one week the wireless network has died, so i have to use an external usb connector...

however, it hardly ever works, and if i unplug it, windows blue screens

the other day it wouldnt boot up unless i unplugged the battery

and it just overheated, (after finally getting it to connect after a few hours of hassle).

it runs very hot too (i know the uk is a little hot, but the laptop runs even hotter than the powerbook!!)

the only good thing to come from buying the fujitsu, is that i'm using my mac more and more...if it ran programs like turbo lister, and good newsgroups programs like newsbin, i might even be tempted to use the mac for my business things(i also need it to run 3dsmax too)....and i just need outlook on it (mail is poo)

i dont like the menu system on the mac though,

hopefully i can either get a replacement pc, or complete refund....i'd prefer a complete refund i think,, i've lost all confidence in the pc not causing any problems in the future..i just need to find the damn receipt for it now...

i need sleep...byee.

hey all,

i havent been doin a lot, except work and take pictures of toys, sell em, and pack..

i did nearly have my stuff nicked in an internet cafe.....it was almost entirely empy, and some dodgy italian blokes came over a casually sat near us, ....then i noticed my bag slide magically along the floor a little ...my friend grabbed my bag for me, and the dodgy italian blokes casually walked off, as if nothing had happened....

so, if your in "easy internet" on totenham court road...keep your bags very close..

i saw "ong bak" at the weekend, and really enjoyed it, its a great fight/martial arts film that has avoids the many jackie chan cliches, has a little comedy in it, but really enjoyable...

also saw palindromes, which is a really odd story about abortion, the main role is played by about 5 different women, all different ages and colours, and shows both sides of the abortion debate (pro life, and pro choice??)...worth watching though...i like these odd films...

although, i might go see star wars, not too bothered,

anyway, its late, and theres e3 coverage to look through...theres a new xbox (same old games with all new shiny chrome textures!!)..the ps3 (same old games but with new shiny textures)..and probably revolution (mario, zelda, a few other games, with new shiny chrome textures, it'll then start to die and become a niche machine, just like all the previous nintendos)..

i think the game ive just worked on is there...if i see any coverage i'll post some links..

a blog about my touristy travels in london, hongkong and tokyo..
