heya
so, just saw spiderman 2 in the cinema!, its the ussual hollywood cheese fest, cameras zooming into screaming faces and a computery spiderman zooming around newyork, but its good enough for spiderman, itll earn lots of money and sell lots of toys, which it's designed to do ...(everything is made to be successful)....
also picked up a 3 dvd set of full metal alchemist, a great anime that would cost a huge amount in japan to buy, but i got the set for 8 quid.. :) and also picked up last exile, lain, ghost in the sell,a great dj shadow dvd,and a few other music ones....complete series cost far less than the price of one episode in japan....and they come with subtitles....theres loads of anime to watch...and all for that special hongkong price ;)
might also buy west wing....i've forgotten which episode i'm up to..
also ate mcdonalds today...there was even a mc cafe in it too..it all tasted the same as everywhere else, but its about £2 for a meal here..but i promise not to eat much of it..i still havent used the gym or pool here yet.
i'm still waking up a few times through the night due to the heat..its like ive been running a marathon when i wake up, very hot and sweaty..if anything i should loose weight due to the amount of water thats coming out of me.
there seems to be a much more varied amount of people here, people from everywhere, compared to few in tokyo, its quite easy to notice non japanese people in tokyo, but here its far more mixed..its quite odd also to hear strong american accents only to look and see its chinese looking people speaking, either theyre american, or when they learn english it was while in usa or from an american teacher, ....they all sound like theyre from l.a ..
i havent managed to find areas of record shops, hifi, music gear etc, hmv here isnt too bad, it had fairly new albums but not the range that they had in tokyo.I havent seen any posters of bands playing here either.
still not done much touristy stuff, no pictures on my website or anything yet..they'll come soon...
bye
hi,
its still hot..as soon as you go outside it hits you, i'm sure i'll get used to it though, and loose a few stone in the process...the aircon is on all day...and i wake a few times during the night cos my room gets really hot (i cant sleep with the aircon whirring away).
found lots of things that hongkong is famous for, cheap films, cheap games, cheap tshirts, watches etc...i bought a watch here 2 years ago which was a really cheap copy, and its still working fine,
i bought some items, one of em didnt work very well,..ah well...
saw another review of the last game i worked on, got quite high marks in pczone, they said it was let down by the publisher support. we worked really hard on it and it was quite disappointing once it came out and didnt sell much...but i learnt a lot of lessons on doin a game...so i'm taking a year off..
another lesson i learnt , from someone else looking for work recently..if you lie about what you do, youll get found out :)
dont claim you can do certain types of work or have done bits of work that you actually havent....people find out eventually ... the software industry is pretty small and everyone has friends at other companies....its hard to blag your way through (hopefully)
its nice to take a break from it, but i'll go back eventually..with a nice shiny accurate cv.
rant over.
