a cheap/expensive list...
cheap
mcdonalds (about 2 quid for big mac meal),and they have more variety of drinks n stuff.
clothes (about 2 quid for 3 tshirts, theyre not too bad either).not exactly brand names, but they'll do
travel ...a lot cheaper than london/tokyo using the octopus card..you can use it to buy food etc too.buses run 24hours and the tube is quick ish,hongkong isnt a huge place though.
rent...well hopefully it is, havent had the bills yet, and you need the air con on a lot.
ice cream..about half price of the uk, and its mostly walls...cornettos etc are really cheap.
games,apps,movies,cds,music etc.. ps2 games are around £2 for 1, £5 for 3 , theyre not legit though..apps etc are about the same, you pay by the amount of disks you buy, not whats on them.
ipods...the 40gig ipod is about £270 , in the uk i think its £400.
Expensive.
japanese things, like books etc...though not as high as london.
baked beans and other "normal" foods..more of a range than japan, but cost more than uk.bread lasts longer in hongkong and japan than in the uk..must be the climate or the added chemicals..

er...not sure about other expensive things, most things are made in china, so that helps to keep the prices down.
i do miss the vending machines that are everywhere in tokyo..though its easy enough to find lots of japanese sweets,crisps etc..i had okinomyaky flavoured crisps the other day which ive never found in tokyo..and seaweed crisps...i dont like red bean ice cream though.
a lot of honkong seems to be quite run down, buildings look really delapidated, but then theres huges amounts of building work, new motorways,apartments,train lines being built.

i miss watchin some tv...the news,e.r,west wing,anything good/topical really, but then most of its downloadable so its easy enough to see whats goin on (i will never ever download the bill,emmerdale or eastenders!!), there doesnt seem to be much music going on over there, mtv just seems to play fairly mainstream european/usa stuff, theres no show like 120minutes..they even had a hanson week on the V channel, and a "meet the corrs" week too, cos they got a new collection of rubbish out on cd....and thers a band called bellefire, who seem to be the corrs,without the bloke in the background.
ive been trying to find out more about hongkong cinema, theres loads of films that look interesting,(lots of supernatural stuff, cops, etc)..i need to find out which is the good stuff, and buy it..(lots of it costs about £2 a cd/dvd,even less probably )
